Our precious baby girl turned ONE and I still can't believe she has blessed our lives for that long!

At One Year she weighed 19lbs and 7oz and was 28.5 inches tall. So she gained 11 lbs 6oz and 8 inches since birth. But she is now small for her age and can still wear 6-9 month clothing and just barely went up to a size 3 diaper.

Her nicknames are Bug, Adleigh Bug, Miss Bug, Little Turtle and Squeakers.

She has 8 teeth but is working hard on getting two more. Her hair is finally starting to get thick and it currently is similar to my color. She has brownish, greenish, bluish eyes but I think they will end up brown.

She says Dada, Mom mom and Bye Bye. I count bye bye as her first word since she actually means bye bye when she says it. Dada is her happy word and mom mom is her angry word.

Still crawling everywhere and using furniture/walls to walk but still hasn't attempted to take her first steps. She can stand by herself when we make her but she doesn't like it. Also she enjoys climbing up and down everything. (In the picture above she climbed up there herself!) When she find something she can climb she will go up it, across and then back down and turn around and repeat over and over.

Climbing through her Great Grandpa's coffee table.

She loves going up the stairs but hasn't figured out how to get down them. So she will get to the top and get so frustrated about not being able to get back down.

She finally started waving at 11 months. She also learned how to blow kisses, point to your nose and pound it.

Adleigh also experienced her first real illness right before turning One. She caught a nasty stomach bug right as we were leaving from a vacation in Fredericksburg. So she and I stayed an extra week to nurse her back to health. She handled it really well and was just more lethargic. Other than that we have been blessed with a really healthy baby.

She is still a big mama's girl and prefers to be with me as much as possible. But Daddy has started to win her over a bit more. We have to be a bit more careful at work because sometimes he will come into the office for just a few minute and when he leaves she is devistated! Once it took me about 15 minutes to calm her down and then Brian came back 5 minutes later!

Her two favorite books are "I Kissed the Baby" and "Peek A Who". She also enjoys any book that has different textures on the page.

She loves the minky blankets. She doesn't care which blanket it is as long as it's the minky texture. She doesn't have to have a blanket but if she sees you holding one; she gets excited and will give it a big squeeze when you hand it to her.

The child has so many toys and doesn't have one specific one that she loves. She definitely loves any stuffed animal and anything that plays music. She starts bobbing up and down when the music is on. She also like balls of any kind. She also firmly believes everything belongs in her mouth.

Her current favorite foods are cheese (especially the Kraft cheese slices) and pieces of apple. She also wants whatever we are eating/drinking and will click her tongue at us to let us know she wants some.

We've let her have milk but she isn't really a fan. She likes to drink my milk which is flavored with Instant Breakfast or a protein shake... I can't say I blame her for not liking regular milk. :-D

She is also still nursing multiple times during the day. I swear she saves room during her meals to still nurse. Usually about an hour after her meal she starts getting cranky so I ask her if she wants jum jums (to nurse) and she gets super excited. But hey it burns 500 calories a day so you aren't going to hear me complain!

The day she turned One she finally got to sleep in her own room! She transitioned really well to her own room. Her schedule at night went from waking up 2-4 times a night to going until 7am without waking up. Then she nurses and goes back to sleep for another hour or two. It's been wonderful!

I can't believe this was over a year ago! Who knew what a spunky and smart little girl would be charming her way into our hearts! We love you Adleigh Kay!

  1. "Mom mom" was always my kids' angry word, too. I'm always offended.

  2. Love the "pound it". Angry "mom mom" seems to run in the family except for Marah. She waited to express her angry as 'stupid idiot'. thank you Cruella :)
