March 12th 2015

Brian's family used to do a big trip to the Texas coast every spring break. They have been so busy the past few years that they haven't been able to do it. But this year Rick set it all up for us to meet down there for a few days. The plan was for us to go down and meet Rick and Brenda and stay in their fifth wheel but their truck had some mechanical issues and wouldn't be able to pull it down there. But we decided to persevere with our plans. So we headed down Wednesday night after Brian got off work and  got to Port A around 1 am.

We had reserved a camping spot next to the beach. The website made it sound like it was all tent camping... it wasn't. Next to us were some drunk men partying outside of their RV at 3am. Luckily Adleigh slept through it.

Then at 7 am the wonderful seagulls decided to make beautiful sounds outside our tent. It woke Brian up for a bit but he was able to go back to sleep. My body decided not to be tired and so instead I practiced taking pictures with my new camera.

Adleigh woke up around 9 am (she sleeps like a champ in a tent) and had fun exploring a bit while we packed up. As you can see; the neighbors on our other side were pretty much the only other tent campers there. When we went to go pay for our spot; the lady didn't make us pay since we were only there for 9 hours!

After getting a quick breakfast from a gas station (classy I know) we headed out to the beach. The past few days it had been raining so it was still pretty cold but the weatherman promised that warm weather was rolling in that day. We still enjoyed ourselves despite the cold.

Adleigh loves throwing things into water. So she walked up and down the beach finding shells and chucking them.

This is another stop that we have never done in our many visits to the coast. Most of the stores have cool displays outside their shops to lure tourists in. You can walk all the way through this shark. Adleigh wasn't a fan. We went in and bought a sarong to hide my swollen pregnant legs and Adleigh a bucket and shovel.

Next we walked down to the fishing jetty to check and see if anyone was catching anything out there. Adleigh loved watching all the "big boats" come into the harbor.

We also saw this pelican chilling on the jetty. I was surprised he let us get so close!

Brian's parents called us and wanted us come into Corpus Christie for dinner at our favorite restaurant there: Pier 99. We went in earlier so that we could stop and buy me some maternity shorts and swimsuit. I ended up being starving about two hours before we were supposed to eat... so we went to Pier 99 early and got lobster nachos!

We had more time to kill so we walked out on the long pier next to the restaurant. I'd never actually walked out on it in all the times we had been there.

As we were walking down, we talked to some fisherman who were leaving, to see how the fishing was. They were mad because the dolphins were scaring off the fish. We were super excited and got to see tons of them swimming around. There was even a mom and her baby out there.

Adleigh waving "Hi" to the dolphins.

Rick and Brenda came out and met us on the pier and we headed to dinner. We also met Brian's cousin Karleigh there. She is going to college at UT Corpus. Adleigh enjoyed the view during dinner. I enjoyed the yummy seafood! Baby Boy is a seafood-aholic! Then we headed back to Port A to check into the hotel room that we split that night with Rick and Brenda
