January 1st 2018
We originally had a big Weirich style party planned for New Years Eve. But with Brian's unconscious brother in the ICU that plan was shuttered. Brian's parents stayed at the hospital which is totally understandable. We hung out with Chris and Jessica that night and cooked the 60 jalapeño poppers Rick had previously bought for the party. We tried cooking a few in the fireplace just for fun. That was literally the only bright spot of the evening.

| The older two kids actually stayed awake until midnight. Hanging out with their cousins gave them staying power! Then they requested to sleep by the fire. Don't worry there is a screen over the fireplace so no ember could have flown out and got them.😁 |

| Cute, exhausted kids. Not sure if they even enjoyed the fire at all, it seemed like they passed out as soon as they put their heads on the pillows. |
