The 4th
7:57 PMI like Christmas and Thanksgiving mainly because they involve lots of family time. But I think the 4th is freaking awesome because it involves parades, swimming, family, food and fireworks. Personally I wish we would get a week off to celebrate!
We were lucky and got the 4th and the 5th off so we headed to Fredericksburg for a nice long weekend. Our friends Chelsie, Tua and their little girls came with us as well.
We started the day off with a big family breakfast of French toast and homemade syrup. Then everyone headed off to the Fredericksburg parade. This was Brian's favorite vehicle in the parade.
Adleigh got to see her Great Grands Faye and Charlie.
She was also given a free flag and was very excited about it... The child loves America already!
Some of the many kiddos in our parking spot. We had 12 adults and 10 kids shoved into our spot.
Adleigh hanging with her Dadders :-)
She also partied in the stroller with cousin Ian. But not for long... That child loves to be held.
Part of the parade includes lots of cool tractors.
And the parade always involves someone riding a longhorn and lots of UT fans.
Our little family after the parade.
We were super excited when Jessica found out we could go meet on of the rideable longhorns! The trainer says they are actually smarter than horses. We should have stuck around longer because Jessica's kids got to ride him... I want to ride him!
But Adleigh had passed out so we headed back to the house. :-)
We then got to have lots of fun partying with the family. Mamaw got lots of baby time with Ian (4 months), Adleigh (3 months) and Konner (2 weeks).
All of the cousins were there and we still have 2 more to be born this year!
Mommies and babies... Excuse Adleigh's belly! And it is here that we realized how tan Miss Adleigh is compared to her cousins. Not sure where that came from!
All the 2013 babies. Ian in March, Adleigh in April, Konner in June, Sarah's in November, and Kim's in December.
I don't know why but I love this picture of Adleigh... I just think her little standing body is so stinkin cute.
We got to eat some yummy BBQ (of course!). It was a smorgasbord of BBQ'd foods ribs, pork, chicken and sausage YUM! Then we broke the cardinal rule and went swimming before waiting 30 minutes after we ate. ;-)
The family then drove out to the fairgrounds to enjoy the FBG firework show. Sadly Adleigh slept through them all and woke up literally as the grand finale ended. I think she would have enjoyed watching them.
Oh and I continued the tradition of splatter painting my nails all patriotic :-)
We also had a few other family activities that fell conveniently on this weekend.
Josh and Sarah held a gender reveal party. They had decorated cans of silly string and had everyone spray them to announce the gender, it was pink!!! Adleigh was very excited to get a girl cousin close to her age.
Next was Konner's baby blessing. We only went for the blessing and left church after the sacrament since I had pink eye :-P. But CJ was sick too so we went and partied with him for a bit, got some food and then headed back home. It always stinks the leave family, but we have to work hard so we can play hard!
