Austin at 3 Months Old

What smile? No way! Not when I have to concentrate on that camera in my face!

3 months
12 lbs, size 1 diapers and just moved into 3-6m clothing.

Much better month! Still a needy baby but we are figuring out what makes you happy and what makes you mad. Your schedule seems to be mostly figured out. You wake up between 8-9 eat, are super happy for a while and then get cranky and tired. Then you take several small naps during the day and generally go to sleep for the night around 9. Usually sleeping a long stretch until 6 am.

You still sleep swaddled and in the rock n play.

Your baby acne is back, probably because I haven’t been careful with dairy. You also have eczema or cradle cap pretty bad on your head. It gets worse when you bath.

Your hair is still red but definitely thinning except the area around your neck. It is very thick and makes you look like you have old man hair.

I’m pretty sure your eyes are turning brown. When the sun hits them just right I see brown around the pupils.

You spit up like a crazy man. Sometimes projectile, sometimes slow but a lot, sometimes thick sometimes thin. It’s so fun. I smell like barf a lot.

You definitely prefer Mom and you are really good at smiling at mom. It is so adorable! Especially your dimple. You will go to other people but mom is your favorite. And you only want mom when you are mad.

You still hate the car seat except when we are actually moving.

You don’t like the bouncer and tolerate the swing when you are in a good mood. You do sleep well in the swing though.

If you are in a good mood then you are happy to just be put on the floor on your back. Then you just lay there and wiggle.

You have gotten good at pulling your legs and butt up into the air.

You like to suck on your fist when you are hungry. Or mom’s finger for a tiny bit.

You had your first Thanksgiving, not that it was exciting since you couldn’t eat anything. You were happy all day since you were held almost the whole day.

Austin is 2 Months Old!

SUPER AUSTIN!

At 2 months old exactly you had your had Dr. Appt. You weighed 11lbs 13oz, were 23 inches long and 15.5 inch head.
Survived your shots really well. Screamed for a little bit and then was fine. Definitely slept more during the day but wasn’t fussy. I was super surprised! You are wearing 0-3m clothing and a size 1 diaper. Your hair is still an auburn red and seems to be getting thicker, not falling out... your eyes are still blue but I may have been seeing some tiny bits of brown, not 100% sure.
This past month was a little rough we couldn’t tell if you had reflux or a food aversion because you had bad gas, stuffy nose, projectile spit up and bad baby acne. You would wake up super cranky anywhere between 4am and 7am because you couldn’t breath. I gave you acid reflux medication and quit dairy and tomatoes. Not sure if that’s the problem or you were just sorting out your digestive issues.
You were only sleeping about 1.5 hours to 2 hours between feedings but a friend said to try the swaddle again. We started using a swaddle sack and since then you have been going at least 3 hours and sometimes more. A few times almost 8 hours!
Your gas and stuffy nose are gone but you still are spitting up like crazy. I am frequently covered in spit up and soaked at least once a day.
Baby acne seems to be finally clearing up, it got really bad for a couple weeks. You also are peeling on your face and scalp fairly badly.
You eat about every 2 hours during the day some times more frequently. Whenever you wake up from sleeping, even if it has only been an hour, you think you need to eat again. And when you are sleepy you also think you need to eat. Luckily you will occasionally take a binky to fall asleep. Or I have to walk you around until you calm down and then I can rock you to sleep in the orange recliner. Not the brown one.
You sleep at night in the rock n play until around 6am and then usually you ended up sleeping on my chest or arms. You take your naps in the swing but you aren’t a very good napper. Probably due to loud siblings/pestering siblings and you prefer to nap swaddled which doesn’t always happen.
You take excellent naps in the baby carrier so I can’t wear you a ton or you would sleep all day. Sometimes when we go on walks I specifically don’t wear you so that you will be awake for part of the walk.
You have found your voice and can coo and goo. It is the sweetest little sound, especially when you are begging for more food.
You love shadows and the fan. You totally smile at them. And if I am trying to get you to sleep and there are good shadows they totally distract you. Sometimes I’ll turn the light off and use my phone light to make shadows and you love to watch them.
Sometimes when you are being cranky if I just set you on your back on the floor it makes you happy. Really weird for my babies! Now tummy time is a different story. You are not a fan. You don’t try and move your head, you just lay there, cry and kick your legs. If I lay on the ground on the other side, sometimes you will lift up and move your head to look at me and then go back to crying.
Mom is definitely your favorite person to be with. You are ok with Adleigh holding you and sometime she can calm you down by bouncing you or walking you. She did trip once and drop/fall with you, that made you very very angry but you were fine.
You do not like being woken up. One day you were sleeping on me when Breydon woke up. I set you down and woke you up. Man you were pissed until you fell asleep an hour later.
When you think you need to nurse you start breathing rapidly through your nose. If that doesn’t get you food then you start doing the bird pecks an my shoulder.
You love baths as long as you are warm so I always have a wash cloth on your tummy and legs. You just hate getting out. And you really hate being lotioned.
You do not like when your siblings kiss you on your head. You are also super sensitive to pain, any tiny bonk makes you cry the same as when you are super mad.

Starting to chunk out a little bit!

Austin 1 Month Old

Our sweet little baby is one month old!
At 1 month old he weighs 10.1 lbs, in 0-3 month clothing and size 1 diapers.
On Sept 4th, he gave us some awake smiles!
On Sept 8th his umbilical cord fell off, took forever!
He doesn't eat on a schedule goes 1-3 hours depending on his mood.
Wakes every 2-3 hours to eat at night.
Does not like to side nurse, usually makes him super grunty.
Had a period where he was waking at 3-4am to 7-8am and being super grunty and wanting to nurse constantly. I stopped drinking milk hoping that would help him stop grunting so much and spitting up a ton.
Has baby acne but it's not really red so not super noticeable.
Still has lots of hair and it's still an auburn color. Still has some hair on his shoulders.
Eyes seem to be getting lighter blue.
Stork bite on back of neck and birthmark on right eye under the eyebrow, between his eye brows, small one on right eye lid and a little tiny one on his upper lip.
Puts up with tummy time pretty well but doesn't really do much moving until he gets mad.
Pretty strong neck, was able to throw his head around when hungry even in the hospital.
Liked being swaddled when he was first born, couldn't sleep without it but now loves stretching out his legs and arms.
He can grab things like your clothing when he is mad.
Will take a pacifier if you force him but he doesn't love it.
Pacifier makes him really mad if he wants to eat.
Still does the adorable little bird peck on your shoulder if he wants to eat.
Great burper.

Austin at 1 Week Old

Breydon at 2 Years Old

24 lbs and 33.5 inches tall. So in the past year he has grown 6.5 inches and gained 3.5 lbs. Still a tiny little dude but slowly getting not as small, he is 17th percentile for weight and 19th percentile for height.

Still tiny and mostly wearing 18 month pants and short but can fit into some 2T stuff but the pants have to be rolled. Size 3 diapers.

Still doesn't have all his teeth. Missing 3 of his I teeth. Also hates having us help brush his teeth. He wants to do it buy himself.

Loves to eat candy (especially suckers and sugar highs) cheese, grapes, strawberries and raspberries. Oh and peanut butter on a spoon. Always asks for juice but rarely gets it. He has such a sugar tooth!

Obsessed with popsicles aka "oppicles". He asks for them all the time. Specifically the baby oppicles which are the ones on a stick not an otter pop.

His favorite books are "Pout Pout Fish" "Love Monster" and "Brown Bear". Also any of the family books I've made he enjoys as well.

Doesn't have anything specific he loves to watch yet, mostly whatever Adleigh is watching. Maybe Thomas the Train now?

Loves to be sung to at night, favorite songs are; "I'm so glad when daddy comes home", "Santa Claus is coming to town", and "Jesus wants me for a Denty (dentist)". Adleigh is scared of the dentist so I would tease her about him being outside, then Breydon started teasing her about it and it lead to him wanting to sing songs about the Denty. Walks around singing/humming songs a lot. His favorite is twinkle twinkle.

Loves his little bike and turtle helmet, will always tell me before he rings the bell on it. Loves to ride the bike down hills and go fast.

Will tell me "bye bye momma" and ride his bike across the road usually trying to find Adleigh.

Follows Adleigh around and often copies what she says or does. He does not like when Adleigh leaves to go play at a friend's. He constantly asks for "sister" when she is gone or tries to go over to where she is.

Loves to play outside and be in the dirt. Sort of scared of bugs. Had a fly land on his arm and he totally freaked out, didn't try to swat it but sat and cried until I got it off. Been working on him lately to like the nice bugs, he will looks at them, pick them up on things and barely tap them with his finger but still won't hold one. Really likes "wormies".

Wakes up in the morning and always asks where Adleigh is, she is usually watching a cartoon, so then he asks "videos"? He finds her and they watch a cartoon together while drinking their milk.

Loves to play with cars the most out of any toy. He is always driving them around everywhere and holding them to take them places with him.

Calls his marbles from Smith and Edwards "snakes" because they had a snake on the package. He was constantly sticking them in his mouth so Great Grandma Danice taught him to put them in his pocket. Now he looks for a pocket whenever he holds one.

Sleeping on a queen sized bed on the floor in his own room. Generally sleeps through the night now but regresses a bit when Brian is gone for work. Sleeps better when he isn't hot, a warm body like his dad, doesn't really need blankets.

Has started trying to count. He knows 1,2,3 really well because he does that right before he jumps off something, usually the countertop into our arms.

Always asking "hold you" to have us hold him or "piggy piggy" to get a piggy back ride. When he wants down he starts counting? Not sure why.

Still not a fan of nursery. Cries whenever we even get near the room, but hasn't been crying as long once I leave him.

No more binkies! Wahoo! If he finds a random one he might suck on it a bit but then loses interest.

Loves to talk about monsters. The way he says monsters is adorable. Close to "bont-sters" is about what is sounds like. Sometimes he will randomly come running in telling me about the scary monsters but then tell me that the monster is nice or silly.

Not potty trained. Scared of the toilet. Finally got him to sit on the baby toilet but he will sit on it and tell me "poop?" And then fart. The other day he would sit, fart, stand up and move the toilet, sit, fart and repeat. It was extremely funny, I think he farted about 10 times in a row.

He is a tease. If he finds something that makes us laugh, he will do it over and over again.

Loves slides, pretty much all he does at the park is slide. He also likes to climb on our lap and use our legs as a slide. Also will no longer swing in the baby swings he has to swing in the big kid swings. So far he holds on really well.

Enjoys throwing all the fake food down the stairs or whatever toy is near the stairs.

Likes to climb up the ladder and across the roosting board to get to the laying boxes in the coop. He gets so nasty but loves to get the eggs. I try to only let him get eggs right before bath time.

Loves pushing his little lawn mower around.

He is getting better at praying. Will repeat a word after you as long as it is one he knows, also will start copying Adleigh when she prays and that drives her crazy.

Won't sit in the booster seat at the table anymore. Made us take it off and move it out of the room. When we put it back on the chair he grabbed it and moved it back out of the room.

Loves to throw Penny's toys but gets mad when she takes it from him or someone else throws it.

Asks to be a burrito (wrapping him up tight in the towel) anytime he gets out of the bath now.

We love our tiny little two year old!!

Adleigh at 4 Years Old

I am 4!!!

4 years old

41" tall and 38lbs

Moved her birthday because Brian was going to be gone for work on her birthday, so we moved it back a week and didn't tell her so she wouldn't be sad he missed her birthday. We still did lots of fun things on her birthday but didn't ever tell her it was her birthday. We celebrated her "birthday" on April 10th. All she wanted to do was eat at Chick Fil A and go to the the zoo.

Moved to her own room downstairs and had zero problems until Brian left for a work trip and now she will only sleep with me. She got Moana wall stickers and it hoping those will help get her downstairs again. She wants to paint the room grey.

Loves all of her friends. Wants to play with friends all day, her favorites are McKenna Hokanson, Joslyn and Savannah Baker, Harper and Jaden Sandthuff, McKinley Miera and Kayson and Cohen Hymas.

Learned how to ride a pedal bike right before turning 4 (in less than 25 minutes) and loves it. Is really good except at starting herself. Hopefully her new bike will help. Currently she is riding a handmedown princess bike that our neighbors gave her.

Was given the choice between doing dance and preschool this year, she chose dance. So we signed her up through a local school with Ms. Jill. Her friend, Harper, also goes to dance with her. She loves dance!

Did outdoor soccer and indoor soccer this year. I coached her for indoor soccer. Loves practice didn't really like the games. Would get "tired" after about 5 minutes of playing.

Still loves her chickens and likes to go check for eggs all the time.

Loves her cats that Dad let her get this year. Rhino, Sky and Bolt.

Currently movie favorite is Moana. Also likes watching Princess Sofia, Dinosaur Train, Magic School Bus, How to Train Your Dragon, Wild Kratts and Curious George. Will still occasionally watch Peppa Pig.

Loves to paint, especially with the real paint from Crayola. She will paint with watercolors and bath paint but not as long. Also loves drawing on her boogie board.

Loves having me paint her finger nails and toe nails. But usually has it all chipped the next day. She doesn't like having her hair done but does have opinions on what style I should do. Also insists on washing her own hair and always asks if she can only wash the back.

I got her a kindergarten prep set and she usually likes doing school with me, unless her friends are home. She can count to 20, knows all her colors, pretty good with shapes and generally can recognize A-H, K, M, O and P.

Her two favorite activities are playing outside and watching movies. I have to limit her movie watching when her friends aren't home to play with. Her rule for watching movies used to be that she could only watch TV while Breydon was taking his nap, but that got ruined when Breydon stopped napping. Now she gets to watch in the morning before Breydon wakes up.

Loves to play dress up with her friends. She has princess costumes and super hero costumes. She and Harper have been recently playing Moana and Maui. They also play house a lot.

Learned how to ride a bike and loves it! Prefers the little princess bike handmedown from our neighbors rather than the big one we bought her for her birthday.

Funny Adleigh Speak ~ "Can you know how to do this?" means do you know how to do this and help me?

"Eleventeen" is what comes after 19.

Favorite foods are peanut butter, apples and cheese, bananas, grapes, yogurt, hot chocolate and push up suckers. Still not a huge fan of meat.

4/9/16 - 4/27/16 ~ Trip with Mom and Breydon back down to Texas to see all her cousins.

5/13/16 ~ First real camping trip up at Sheep Creek in Flaming Gorge. We went with the Bakers and she had a blast.

5/17/16~ Moved into our new house in Green River with a backyard!

6/6/16 ~ Stung by a bee for the first time. She literally stepped outside the door and got stung. Very fluke accident. She handled it well and luckily wasn't allergic.

6/11/16 ~ Got a new puppy that she named all by herself, Penny.

6/24/16 - 6/26/16 ~ First Yellowstone Trip

7/2/16 ~ First Concert: Stadium of Fire with Tim McGraw. She hated it after the jet fly over scared her and fell asleep once we put ear protection on her.

7/16 - 8/16 ~First Soccer Team. Outdoor soccer. She was on the team with her friends Kayson and Cohen.

7/21/16 - 7/23/16 ~ Really fast trip driving out to see Aunt Bubba get married in Sacramento, California. Our flights were cancelled so we drove 12 hours there and 12 hours back.

9/2/16 - 9/4/16 ~ Camping trip up in Salmon, Idaho with Uncle Josh and his family, and Mamaw and Papaw. Sadly the trip was cut short when her Great Great Grandma passed away.

9/8/16 ~ First Dance Class!

Halloween 2016 ~ She picked the family costume theme: Ninja Turtles. She went as Donatello because he was purple. She loved trick or treating.

11/11/16 ~Took her to Urgent Care because she keeps barfing at night and has diarrhea. Diagnosed with Strep and Acid Reflux? When we ask her how her tummy is the answer is always "not good". Weighed 35lbs and was 40" tall.

11/25/16 ~ Got to go chop down a Christmas tree for the first time.

12/16/16 ~ Trip to the dentist to get her first cavities filled. Laughing gas does not work on her so she was mad the whole time.

12/16/16 - 12/18/16 ~ Trip to California to play with Aunt Lori. She didn't really like the waves but loved playing in the sand. Still talks about our "house on the beach."

1/17 - 2/17 ~ Indoor Soccer with Mom as her coach.

1/31/17 ~ Found out she was getting a new sibling in September!

2/6/17 ~ Moved downstairs so she could have a room all to herself.

2/27/17 - 3/3/17 ~ Family trip to Denver so Dad could get his CDL for his new job. We also got to go to the Denver Zoo that was pretty cool.

3/19/17 ~ Gave her first talk in Primary. She did awesome and wasn't scared at all.

3/25/17 ~ Learned how to ride a pedal bike without training wheels in less than 30 minutes!

3/27/17 ~ Learned she is getting another brother in September. She was a little sad at first but now is happy about it!
