July 23rd - 24th 2017

Two guys from our church talked Brian into being their teammate in the Spartan Race in Boise. Brian got the weekend off from work (one of his teammates is also his boss lol) and he made the trip to Idaho. I was already in Pocatello to make it so that the drive to Boise wasn't as hard on my pregnant self. We stayed Friday night in Pocatello with his Mom in her 5th wheel. Saturday we spent some time with Brian's brother and family before heading to Boise. Last minute Adleigh decided she didn't want to go and wanted to stay and play with her cousins. Mamaw said she could watch her, so we left Adleigh for her first night without us (besides when Breydon was born).

Adleigh and Mama went and had some adventures at the mall. She had a blast and got a new doll and new dress. She didn't miss us at all!

We checked in with her a few times and she was doing great!

Breydon slept almost the whole ride to Boise except the last 30 minutes, then he screamed until Brian went and sat back with him. Then we went and met a friend from the BYU track team, Phil, and his family at Cafe Rio for dinner. After dinner we went to Phil's house to catch up as we were leaving Phil's Breydon said "now go get ice cream." Crazy boy! So Brian was nice and bought him some ice cream at the gas station before we checked into our hotel. We did the "Name your own price tool" from Priceline, never again. For $100 we got stuck in a crappy Roadway Inn. No ice machine, no water fountain, nasty tiny shower, the floor was still dirty in the room, they charged you $25 if you got any stain on the sheets or towels (???), and it was literally right next to the Boise Airport so it was loud! Breydon had a blast though because he had Mom and Dad all to himself and had his own huge bed!

We stopped at Walmart to get stuff for lunch at the race and bought this cute boy a hat. The race was in the mid afternoon and it was going to be hot that day. He requested this "dun dun bam bam" aka Superhero hat. So cute!

Meeting up with his team Jake and Nick. Taylor ended up not being able to come because he got forced to work (Highway Patrol).

Breydon and the Spartan.

We were supposed to be there an hour early but we had the race time wrong, we showed up two hours early. It was freaking hot and not much shade so we went and ate lunch in the car with the AC on. I was very pregnant so this was a nice break for me. :-)

We came back about 15 minutes before the race would start and Brian decided to compete in a little side competition. You had a minute to flip that thing over as many time as possible. Brian did it and smashed the other scores and ended up winning overall. He got a coupon for a free Spartan race!

Writing his name as the highest scorer!

Getting marked for the race!

Off they go! Breydon was freaking out! He wanted to go with Daddy, that would have been a fun race.

After a good 90 minute chunk; we finally got to see him race again.

Breydon had to go see Daddy even though he was still racing. One of his teammates didn't pass the ring obstacle and had to do burps, so Brian had a break.

Rope climb.

At the finish line!

Spartan finisher! This was just the Spartan Sprint, it is the shortest race that is put on by the Spartan. It was about 4 miles and had a little over 20 obstacles. Brian only didn't complete one obstacle, the spear throw, because he threw it too high. He said this race was pretty easy but he had a few breaks since he was running with teammates.

Some of the professional pictures he was given from the race.

Right after the mud pit. They had to swim under that wall. Nasty!
