So at the Indoor BYU track meet in January, some of us track wives were talking... We thought it would be fun to do a wives track meet sometime. We wanted to experience what the boys experience every week.

So somehow this warped into the wives competing in a race at the BYU outdoor track meet this past week.

When I found out that it was going to be at a real track meet in front of people I was unsure if I still wanted to do it... Then I found out it was going to be a 4x100m relay and I was really hesitant about doing it. I have never been fast enough to be a sprinter and was worried about looking like a slow loser in front of everyone.

After mulling it over in my brain for a few days I finally decided to do it. I knew I would regret not doing it and it would make Brian really happy.

Lucky for me my family and Brian's family were in town for Brian's graduation so they all got to come watch us race!

It was freezing and I was really nervous... but luckily the girl in the lane next to me was my friend Ashlyn. She is the wife of Ryan who runs the 800 with Brian.

Here we are "warming up". We were the third leg of four legs so we ran the curve.

Here Ashlynn is getting the baton and I'm getting ready for mine....

We were really behind...
I didn't help improve us much...

Brian was close to where I was running and he was cheering for me. It made me laugh for some reason. You can't run fast while laughing :-) Brian's mom took some pictures of me (that I don't have yet) and I promise I'm laughing in them.

Apparently I caught our team up a little but not enough for us to win, oh well! It was a cool experience!

They even announced my name over the podium :-)

The "880" wives: Ashlynn, Tracy and me. Our husbands all run the 800m and they call themselves "880".

Next I got to watch Brian run in the 1500m.

He didn't do as well as he hoped due to a very late night and very early morning. Lack of sleep does not a good runner make. He still got 5th place which was awesome!

He was then asked to rabbit the 800 race for his friend Justin. To rabbit means you set the pace for someone to help them get a better time. So he ran 600m and then dropped out so Justin could finish out strong.

Here he is checking to make sure Justin was close. FYI: Tracy's husband James is the red head in third place.

It was an interesting/freezing cold meet. It was fun to have my family come see Brian run and have Brian's family there as well!
