Texas State Fair
2:06 PMWe missed going to the State Fair last year so we were determined to make it this year. So despite the forecast of rain and the Texas A&M game we decided to go!
There was a free petting zoo that was pretty amazing!
Everyone was afraid of the camel but we all pet her and she was really nice.
I thought this was the coolest cow. They had all different crazy breeds of cows there.
Adleigh thought the miniature donkey was pretty cool. Brian won't let me get one though... :-)
This was my FAVORITE part of the petting zoo! Seriously, petting a baby zebra was pretty awesome.
The baby camels were also pretty stinking cute. I also liked the cow in the background. His floppy ears almost make him look like a large dog.
They had a horse show and I fell in love with this horse. The coloring is called chocolate palomino.
So this is where we sat and Adleigh nursed... I found it funny that she was nursing in front of the milking cow demonstration area. I do feel like a milking cow sometimes.
Family shot at the milking demonstration. We are total nerds and talked to the presenter for about 30 minutes after the presentation.
So this is the LARGEST pig I have ever seen. He was taller than the fence! The nastiest part was he shook and sprayed all the people near him with piggy sweat. Yuck!
Our little piggy waiting for the piggy races.
Another family shot at the piggy races. Moments later when the races started Adleigh started screaming. Normally she doesn't mind loud, but I guess it was a bit too loud during the race.
Being the farm nerds that we are: we also spent quite a lot of time with these guys. Before they mounted up we ran into them in their stalls. Apparently the Dallas Patrol horses are stalled at the Fair Grounds. We talked to one cop for over an hour! He told us to stop by anytime and we could get a better tour when less people are around.
You can't really tell from the picture but these horses are not your typical horse. They are very large! Mostly Percherons and Clydesdale mixes.
We pretty much avoided the game area... But we did go and get two funnel cakes because you can't go to a fair and not eat one! :-)
It was a fun place and we are so glad we decided to go!

I have never been to a petting zoo with camels and zebras - so jealous! That pig is HUGE and the cow with horns - very unique.
ReplyDeleteAll nursing moms feel like milking cows. At least your doctor hasn't told you that you are a great cow... I think my meant it as a compliment, but ;)
