Married Life
7:40 PMWell life has clearly been busy for us. I haven't had a chance to blog in about 3 months. I just didn't have time due to moving me out, moving him out, planning a wedding and Christmas. Then after the wedding my lappy cord bit the dust... Again... So we need to get one but I've been too busy to order one. Plus our only Internet access is through our phones. We are too cheap to get Internet so a laptop wouldn't be much help at this point in time.
As of right now we are all moved into our teeny tiny apartment (I'll post pics later). Literally everthing is connected by one small hallway. Our bedroom fits our queen bed and two dressers with a very little walking path. Oh and there is no closet in the room! Yup our coat closet in the living room is our closet. We invested in some space saving hangers to get more workable space in our closet. Oh and I put about half my clothes away in storage under the bed. (I have to high jump to get into bed because we lifted it so high for storage!) The nice thing about this place is that we do have a washer and dryer which we share with our neighbors. I'm so glad we don't have to go to a laundry mat!
As far as unpacking goes we are mostly done... It has taken us forever due to crazy schedules and sickness. All our big stuff is in it place. We now just have lots of little stuff on our table that we need to find places for. We have no storage areas inside and our tiny outside storage is all our camping gear. So it's gonna be fun to try and hide all that stuff. Oh and we have mounds of laundry that got ignored all through december, which I'm hoping to work on this weekend!
Another cool thing that happened is I GOT PROMOTED! I am now the assistant coordinator of supported employment. Basically I am in charge of all our clients who have jobs and their job coaches. It's nice to be in a position where people actually listen to you! Plus I get to set my own schedule! I have to work two shifts (3pm to 7pm) at the state hospital with some of our clients but I also have to pick up some clients at 7:45. This means twice a week I work 11 hour shifts. So I just decided to work two other 9 hour shifts. This means I get Fridays off!!! I am so excited! I will make it soo much easier for us to go on weekend camping trips.
One reason I have been so crazy lately is because I haven't actually been able to take Fridays off yet because we don't have enough staff to take over my shift that day. So I have been working 50 hour weeks... Party! I actually worked an 11 hour shift today... Lame. But luckily Brian is gone at a track meet so my Friday night wasn't too wasted.
Brian just started his last semester of college! Yay!!! He's only taking 12 credits but with track that still keeps him pretty busy. He usually gets home about the same time as me. It been kind of crazy trying to get his homework done without Internet. We have to go drive to campus a lot to turn stuff in and take quizzes. Brian is also kept busy because he is the Captain of the BYU Track Team! He was also the Captain of the BYU Cross Country Team last semester. So it's pretty cool that he got voted as both, everybody loves Brian because he is just super nice. :-) He goes to campus bright and early for weight lifting and also has a 4 hour workout in the middle of the day AND he has to do a four mile run everynight. I'm gonna start going with him and just jog around the track while he laps me fifty times... Haha.
Oh and I mentioned our sickness up above. At my job I get to deal with a lot of sick people because most of their caregivers send them to us to take care of them EVEN WHEN THEY ARE SICK! So I'm exposed to lots of different fun illnesses which is so great considering I have a stellar immune system... Not! One day three clients came in with Gastroenteritis and I was the lucky one who got to clean them up. I came home and told Brian that I was probably going to get really sick this week...
Literally the next day I woke up with a terrible, feel like my throat is on fire, sore throat and a cough. I had actually caught the Influenza virus from a different client. I survived that day by eating about a million cough drops ( I now HATE cough drops, nasty tasting things). The next day I was coughing so hard that I was almost throwing up and had a fever of 101. I couldn't find anyone to cover work for me so I had to go in. :-( Not to mention that day was my 11 hour shift.
I literally felt like dying the whole day. By the end of the shift I was beet red, lost my voice and had a temp of 103! I called Brian sobbing and we went and got a blessing for me. Miraculously my boss was able to find people to cover my shifts for the rest of the week and I got to stay home and try to recover.
I tried to make Brian stay away from me and even offered to sleep on the couch but he wouldn't. He generally has a strong immune system... Not this time. About a week after I got it, he started coughing. That's the best present a wife can give her husband right... Influenza... I still feel bad about it. He didn't get it near as bad as me but he does have a big track meet this weekend and he's still sick. He says he will be fine... So here is hoping I didn't ruin his track career!
So there you have it... We are the two coughing and hacking newlyweds. (yes I still have my cough and runny nose two weeks later). But I think it's way better being sick and married than sick and single!!!
I'm gonna start posting engagement/wedding stuff soon!
