When we moved to Wyoming our plan was to stay in our rental condo for at least a year. It had decent sized bedrooms and a basement to store all our stuff that didn't fit but our darling daughter forced us to start looking for places a lot sooner. Let's just day I kept finding her outside running around our condo block in just underwear... almost once a day. We had some sketchy single men move in a few condos down and from that moment on we started looking to buy a house.

At first we were pretty picky and only looked at houses in our church ward. Our only options were either buying a condo or going way above our budget. So we started looking outside of our ward. We went to every single house in Green River in our budget and hated every single one of them. This town is full of split levels and I don not like split levels. After that I whined to one of my friends and she ended up giving me the number of her neighbor who was wanting to sell their house but had not put it on the market yet.

We talked to the owners and made are they really were interested in selling and set up an appointment to see the house. We fell in LOVE with the house! It was right at the top of our budget but still do able and totally worth it. Houses in Green River are stinking expensive just FYI. This house is only a little bit bigger than our Texas house, on a smaller lot but cost up $120,000 more (insert terrified face here ;-). The next day we gave them an offer through our mortgage broker and they accepted! We just had to wait to move in until the snow cleared up at the cabin of the house sellers so they could go live there.

The house! That ginormous tree is in our back yard which is awesome. We plan on painting the house white with blue accents next summer. Too much brown for my taste. Oh and that horrid bush in the front will be pulled out ASAP.

The kitchen. This is a huge improvement over our kitchen in Texas other than no granite. I plan on painting the cabinets in the near future and putting in stainless appliances. These are all pictures I took the day we went and saw the house so they are not current in future and decor. :-)

The most important aspect of this home is the wood burning stove. It keeps their heating bill in the winter below $50. I've already painted the wood paneling and haven't figured out what I want to do with the brick yet.

Another big perk to this house is the basement! We have a decent TV room and it connects to a little space that he used as a gym but I have turned into a play room.

Brian's favorite room of the house is the gun room/cold storage room. The guy left the gun safe in the sale of the house which was awesome! They also left the wine rack which I have no idea what to do with....

We got the keys the morning of the 16th and were able to start moving into the house. We had until the end of the month to move out of the condo which was really nice.

The lady made Adleigh a little fairy garden to play with and also left two quilts she made for the kids. They were very sweet to us.

The kids exploring their new home. Why do kids prefer the front yard???

Yay a new home!

Also can we be done moving for a few years??? This was a fairly common sight while I was packing... Breydon was crying too but looks better in the picture. :)

  2. How lucky that your friend gave you her neighbors's phone number so that you could buy the house before it went on the market. It's a great house, although I see why you would want to get rid of the oddly placed bush in the front lawn. I love the wood burning stove, they produce a great deal of heat.
