Adleigh
2 Weeks

Our sweet baby girl is two weeks old today! At her appointment she weighed 8 lbs 7 oz so has gained 6 oz since birth! They measured her at 20 inches which is funny since at her last appointment and in the hospital she was 20.75 inches... Didn't know babies could shrink! :-)
In the past two weeks we have had lots of fun, learned a lot and only had one meltdown (by me, I don't handle lack of sleep well! :-)
1) We have learned that despite her loving bottles and binkies in the hospital she now hates them.
2) We have learned that attempting to swaddle her or put her in the "woombie" will result in a screaming fit that ceases the moment her arms are free. She frequently enjoys sleeping with her arms raised above her head.
3) We have learned that any attempt by me to eat spicy foods (which I frequently do on accident) will cause lots of poopy diapers and a baby that refuses to sleep and is decently fussy. So long hot wings... :-(
4) We have learned that this princess like to be comfy! She doesn't enjoy her flat crib mattress and will only sleep in there if she is passed out. She would much rather sleep on a pillow or on a pile of blankets.
5) We have learned that nap time with Daddy is the best!
6) We have learned her main sign that she is hungry. She will dive bomb you,( the pillow, whatever is near ) with her mouth wide open, over and over again like a chicken pecking at the ground. It's quite hilarious, I need to get a video.
7) We have learned that when she is awake she wants your full and complete attention. If you lay her down or put her in the rocker and don't stay with her: she is not a happy camper. It makes getting ready lots of fun!
8) We have learned that she has extremely dry skin. I can load her up on lotion and ten minutes later she is flaky on her feet and hands.
9) We have learned that she is a wiggle worm. We definitely can't leave this baby alone on anything high. We've even had to make her bassinet so it doesn't rock. This is because she wiggles around during the night so much that she'd make it rock and she'd roll into the side and be stuck there with the bassinet at an angle. She also made her newborn photo session impossible because she kept trying to wiggle off the props!
10) We have learned that even when she keeps us up at night for hours or screams because she's done being in the car seat that we still love her! Haha, actually we have been blessed with a fairly easy going baby and for that we are grateful!
Love you baby Adleigh!!!

CUTE pictures! Ask Meg, but I remember Seth sleeping in the 'pimped out' chair as Jon called it - lots of padding and up on an angle.
ReplyDeleteCould Adleigh have eczema already? We had to use a prescription cream on you. Eucerin lotion helps.
So adorable! You have such a beautiful family. This is Megan Nickell Anderson by the way:)
ReplyDeleteYep--Mom's right! Both of mine slept in extra-padded swings for the first 6 months or so. Totally worth it!
ReplyDeleteAs for the skin, my guess is that it's just a normal newborn thing, Both of my kids were like shedding snakes--they had peeling, dry skin for several weeks. Then it just goes away. So don't worry too much about it! I never even put lotion on mine.
Sorry about the spicy food! :( Try again after she's 3 months old. They seem to handle things better at that point.
I need to call you, but I never want to wake you up! Maybe I'll text first. :) Love you!
