Overdue Update (Photo Overload) #1
9:23 AMWell I've changed our blog up a bit... I guess that's what happens when your husband wakes up for work at 5am and for no apparent reason your brain decides to wake up as well.
Not my body though, which is why I am still in bed.
But at least I am being productive :-)
Well since moving to Colorado we have had quite a few adventures (Not as many as we would like due to a sometimes crappy work schedule!)
Our first adventure was experiencing the life of a Rancher. Jake has some friends in our town who literally raise thousands of cows for a living. They let us come out two weekends to help with the herding and the branding.
This is outside the Help Cabins that we stayed in. It literally is just 5 sets of bunk beds, two sinks, a toilet and a shower. Not that I would ever use that shower... Many a spider had set up a home in there. I made Brian share a bed with me... it kept me warmer and somehow I felt he protected me from the spiders :-)
This is us on our horses. You can kind of tell that I was a bit freaked out. This was my first time back on a horse since our horse Nina had thrown me off two weeks prior. I wasn't much help with the rounding up part because I was too much of a wimp to go past a trot.
The boys made me pin this poor little calf when she was getting her shot. She had these massive darling eyes and I was petting her while she was waiting for her turn... so of course the boys made me work on her. She was also the smallest which was probably another reason...
Funny story! Jake was riding along the edge of a deep wash looking for stray cows. His horse started misbehaving and fell into a HUGE hole on the side of the wash! Jake jumped off before the fall and the horse was not injured. But we did have to wait for the horse to be dug out. Boy did that horse run as soon as it was free!
We found a snake on the side of the road. I don't mind snakes so I held it. However it almost bit me! You can see in this picture that he was about to strike. Luckily it missed me but not by much!
Our next adventure was going to the Stadium of Fire in Provo. We had both wanted to go because Brad Paisley was performing but we decided to save our money and just watch the fireworks. However, the night before our friends James and Tracy called and invited us to come! James got free tickets from his work and they were good ones, we were down on the grass, which normally costs about $200. We also got a catered meal from J-Dawgs. The only stipulation was we had to wear the company shirt... luckily it was blue so it went with the patriotic theme.
The Brad Paisley tour trucks... I think there was at least four of them! I thought we got a picture in front of it, but that must be on Brian's phone...
David Archuleta (however you spell that) performed, this is how excited we were for him! Not... but seriously there was a girl in front of us who sang all the David A songs at the top of her lungs and stood on her chair the whole time. Then Brad Paisley came on and she sits down, puts in ear plugs, plays Diner Dash on her lappy and is tweeting about how much Brad sucks. Firstly, that's a crapload of money to spend on David A and Secondly, Brad Paisley is the entertainer of the year missy! I wanted to hit her...
Look you can kind of tell it is Brad! If you look at the TV. Cell phones just don't take good pictures of people on stage. We tried to go closer for a picture but the BYU security girl/Nazi prison guard wouldn't let anyone walk up the aisles.
Our group we went with. Dane and Aimee, then us, and Tracy and James. We get to go see them this weekend, yay!
Us at the end of the event. We really need to get better at asking people to take pictures of us!
We next decided the Fourth of July would not be fully celebrated unless we went Camping!
Josh, Sarah, Victor and I at our awesome campsite on the Alpine loop. This was the first time we used our new tent!
Aunt Lori sent us a yummy chicken recipe called Huli Huli chicken. So we brought some pre-marinated chicken and ate very well that night.
We went exploring around our campsite and ended up going on an amazing hike. We found lots of cool meadows and amazing scenic views.
The next adventure I went on was mostly all by myself. My parents came to Utah to take care of post-surgery grandparents and my cousins wedding. Brian got to see them for the weekend but then had to go back to Colorado for work. I stayed and hung with the family.
My parents, sister Beth and her friend Courtney and my dog Bruce spent the weekend with us in Provo. Beth, Courtney and Bruce camped in our mostly moved out of apartment with us. My parent were lame and got a hotel. :-)
We took them all out on Saturday to Utah lake area to meet our horse. I have been promising Bethany a horse ride for years so she was finally able to get one. Unfortunately, our most well trained horse, Ally, was being bratty so Brian had to help Beth and Courtney ride her for the most part.
This is a picture of me with Nina. She is the horse that threw me off (my back still is having issues... blasted horse). Nina is the baby of Ally and is actually Brian's parent's horse. We are "training" her but she is still in Utah so that training is going well!
This is my Daddy with Miss Nina. He spoiled that horse all day, it was actually really cute :-) Nina is like a little puppy dog and will follow you around and make you pet her all day long.
We decided that we didn't get enough riding so we took three of the horses up Provo Canyon to ride some more. Beth got to ride Ally all by herself. I rode Rebel and Brian rode Ajax (they are Jake's horses). Jake made me ride Rebel because I was still super nervous about riding horses and Rebel is such a fast horse that Jake was hoping it would help me get used to speed again.
After the weekend Brian left and I spent some more time with the family. My mom, Beth, Courtney and I headed to the Hogle Zoo!
We rode on the little train at the zoo. It takes you around to a few cages. It only lasts about 5 minutes, but I'm sure the little kids love it. I was just glad my mom didn't make me ride the carousel. :-)
Here is pretty much the only picture of my mom from that trip. And I was the one who forced her to be in the picture! But her is the proof that I went somewhere with my Mom.
The next main family event was my cousin Jenna's wedding. These are my Uncle Garth & Aunt Linda's kids, Calvin, Sam and Russell. Can't you tell they LOVE taking pictures with girls?
A picture with my dad before he left to go back up to Logan to take care of my Grandpa Scott. I was in heels... so he was standing on his toes!
The wedding party
And my mom's camera is never happy unless she gets one picture of me with Bruce per trip :-)
to be continued....
