June 24th - 26th 2016

Brian got recruited by a new oilfield company and was excited to go back to the part of the oilfield that he really enjoyed. However the part of the oilfield that he enjoys does not have a set schedule and they work lots of weekends. So right before his new job started we decided to go see Yellowstone/ Grand Teton incase he ended up working crazy hours.

On the drive Breydon was very good at sharing... Yuck!

After having a really really hard time finding a camping spot (we tried two other site first and all were full, this place had over 500 camp spots and we got one of the last 10) we ended up camping in Grand Teton at Colter Bay Campground. It is a ginormous area with cabins, rv parking and tent camping. Luckily we ended up in a perfect spot, it was right at the edge of the campground so we were fairly secluded. The best part was Jackson Lake was an easy 5 minute walk from our campground.

Enjoying the water

Penny's glamour shot

Little Miss totally asked for this picture. Guess she is used to it.

Hiking back.

Adleigh asked for this picture too but then wouldn't smile.

Our pretty little campspot

Moments after that picture Breydon's chair fell forward and he hit the fire ring with his face. Poor guy. He was a little shell shocked for a while.

We moved his chair to a more steady spot, gave him a poker and he was happy again.

After eating diner we went for another little drive to explore Grand Teton. This is Jenny's lake my Grandpa's favorite lake.

First Grand Teton trip for the kiddos.

Princess Penny was spoiled and got to sleep in the tent again.

The next day we woke up and headed to Yellowstone bright and early.

We met a friend at Old Faithful. Adleigh was dead set on it eating out of her hand, it wouldn't.

Old Faithful Visitors Center.

Spoiled kiddos and their loot from the gift shop. Breydon got a big bison and Adleigh got a small bison and a bag of rocks.

Adleigh watching Old Faithful. She asked to watch it again... we didn't want to stick around that long. :-)

Breydon was impressed too.

Exploring our favorite hot pots.

Our favorite pool. Adleigh must have really liked it since she refused to look at me.

Lamar Valley: our favorite place to find wildlife.

Family!

We did the short hike to Yellowstone's Grand Canyon. Seriously a gorgeous view.

Cute little kiddos.

We realized that you could hike to the top of the waterfall seen in the last photo. So we drove over to the start and started the hike down. Adleigh wanted a picture with the rainbow.
At the top of the waterfall.

The hike back up was not very fun. Pure up hill switchbacks the whole way. I made it most of the way carrying Breydon but the last 1/4 mile Brian took over. :-)

We headed back to camp and enjoyed some time at the lake before the mosquitos got too crazy.

Adleigh and I hung out longer at the lake while Brian and Breydon headed back to start dinner. We may have stayed too long and it was pretty dark when we headed back. We may have gotten a little lost heading back and Adleigh may have freaked out a bit. :-) Luckily we popped out a few campsites down from ours and Aldeigh calmed down.

Apparently Penny got cold.

Breydon escaped the tent. Little stinker! Luckily it was our last morning so he didn't need clean jammies.

The next morning we headed down to the river bend where we normally see moose. Sadly no moose but we still see a super amazing view.

Then we headed to Jenny's lake again. Adleigh bought some binoculars and loved looking for animals. We totally should have bought them earlier.

Family shot at Jenny's lake.

We stopped in Jackson Hole to look around for a little bit. Adleigh made some cool friends! A guy in the store started growling while i was taking this picture and Adleigh got a little nervous.

We are being attacked, help!!

The iconic Jackson Hole Arches. We also bought matching shirts because we are nerds. :-)
